The Kansas City Chiefs will officially be without a couple of new players for their first week back with the team against the Baltimore Ravens.

The Kansas City Chiefs welcomed a couple new faces to the offense this week as they reshuffled the deck due to roster moves and injuries, but apparently, those new players aren’t ready just yet to play since wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin and running back Charcandrick West are both inactive for Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens.

In the wake of the Chiefs recent release of running back Kareem Hunt, they signed West back onto the roster after releasing him in the preseason before active rosters were due to start the season. West had earned a quick look from the New York Jets, but failed to make the team and was waiting for such a chance. West won out over C.J. Anderson, a veteran running back who used to play for the Denver Broncos, when the pair tried out last Monday.

As for Benjamin, the Chiefs recently signed him to a free agent deal after he was released by the Buffalo Bills in recent days. Around the same time, word leaked that Sammy Watkins had re-injured his foot in practice, which means the team needed a bit of help at receiver. The Chiefs were clearly interested in seeing the former first round pick up close and the timing of Watkins injury gives them such a chance.

Other inactives for the Chiefs against the Ravens on Sunday include offensive lineman Jimmy Murray, tight end Deon Felder, offensive lineman Kahlil McKenzie, Watkins, and safety Eric Berry. Berry is expected to make his debut next Thursday against the Chargers on Thursday Night Football.
