Marcus Peters says Week 11 on the L.A. Rams schedule is “just another football game,” despite the fact that he’s playing against the Chiefs.

Most players will admit that they’ve circled a date on the calendar if there’s a chance to play against a former team or to play in front of a hometown audience. For Marcus Peters, the chance to play the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 11 is “just another football game.”

Last offseason, the Chiefs surprised everyone, Peters included, by trading away the mercurial cornerback with a Hall of Fame trajectory. The NFL world was shocked at a number of elements in the trade—from the lack of reported suitors to the little draft return to the fact that a team would trade away a young, cost-controlled corner to the addition of yet another great player on paper for the Rams.

Ever since the trade, the Rams and Chiefs game in Week 11 was circled on local calendars as a major game. Then came the success of both teams. Now K.C. and L.A. are each vying for their 10th win in 11 games and lead their respective conferences. Is this a Super Bowl preview? It very well could be, but for Peters, it’s also a chance to get a bit of revenge against the team that traded him. At least to reporters, he’s not admitting to any such motives, however.

"“We’re playing football against the Kansas City Chiefs,” Peters said. “It’s just another football team we’ve got to play against.”"

In fact, when speaking with reporters, he spoke positively about several aspects of being with the Chiefs. He sounded thankful for the Chiefs giving him a chance to play in the NFL in the first place as their first-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. He also explained that he was excited to see a lot of former teammates.

"“They’re my dudes, you feel me? We were brothers when I was there,” Peters said, “and they’re still going to be my brothers off the field, so it don’t matter.”"

For a cornerback who was often criticized by some portions of the fanbase for creating drama, Peters sounded like the opposite as a member of the Rams—a cool, collected player who is gearing up for yet another game, one in which he will happen to have several good friends on the other side.
