2018: Week 11 vs. L.A. Rams in Mexico City
Let’s bring this back around.
We’ve already covered some of what makes this coming Monday Night Football contest so highly anticipated so we don’t need hammer those main points again. We simply need to acknowledge that this is about as big as the regular season gets.
The Rams are the sexy team, the SoCal franchise, with name players on both sides of the ball who have made one gutsy move after another. They traded for Brandin Cooks and then Marcus Peters. They added Ndamukong Suh and Aqib Talib and even Dante Fowler at the deadline. With each move, fans of other franchises are left wondering just how much money the Rams actually have and how they make these moves work as their own team stands still.
On the other side is a team that’s grown up together, a well-drafted roster that continues to grow a bit more each year. One glimpse at the way Dee Ford and Chris Jones are breaking out together makes it clear this entire roster will keep growing as well, and that’s great if you’re a Chiefs fan.
At the center of both teams is a bright young quarterback and it’s possible that Mahomes vs. Jared Goff could make for a compelling new rivalry. In close orbit around that is a pair of loaded teams with dynamic offenses and key defensive stars with offensive masterminds at head coach. So far in 2018, the Rams and Chiefs have proven to have no peers in their respective conferences and now the teams generally perceived as the two best overall will meet next Monday.
If you haven’t been anticipating this one, you don’t have a pulse.
