The The Kansas City Chiefs will be without Eric Berry and Justin Houston on Sunday as they were listed among the team’s inactives against the Browns.
Justin Houston was listed as questionable despite returning to practice this week for the Kansas City Chiefs. It looks like the scales tipped the wrong way for the team as the outside linebacker will be forced to sit for another week due to a hamstring injury that clearly isn’t quite ready to return just yet.
The Chiefs have been without Justin Houston for each of the last three weeks overall since he first injured his hamstring against the New England Patriots. The Chiefs have done well in his absence to still get after the passer, but that’s no reason to feel good about the team’s most valuable defender in the front seven and most feared pass rusher of the last few years.
Houston isn’t the only player among the team’s inactives for Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns. The Chiefs will also be without safety Eric Berry, who was doubtful coming into the game. Mitch Morse, the starting center, remains out with a concussion although that was known before the game, as was the absence of Frank Zombo, outside linebacker. Defensive lineman Justin Hamilton, offensive lineman Kahlil McKenzie and running back Darrel Williams all remain inactive as young players protected on the active roster.
The Chiefs will see outside linebacker Nate Orchard in an active spot for the first time since picking him up a few weeks ago. Orchard will take over Zombo’s spot as a special teams’ performer and depth for the position.
