Welcome back to another look around the AFC West as we head into Week 9 of the 2018 NFL Season. This week has further solidified the Kansas City Chiefs’ standing as the leaders of not only the AFC West but the entire AFC.

As we head into Week 9, let’s take a look at how other AFC West division rivals have done in Week 8.

Los Angeles Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers are coming off a bye week having just traveled home off a nail-biter of a win against the Tennessee Titans. Given that, there has not been a flurry of activity coming out of the Chargers’ headquarters this week. Even given the fact that the NFL trade deadline was October 30, the Chargers did nothing.

What we do here, however, is the return of some injured players. Joey Bosa seems to be improving. Bosa has been struggling with a bruised left foot and has yet to see the field this season. Additionally, Melvin Gordon was sidelined for the game against the Titans with a hamstring injury. While it seems much more likely that Gordon will be back because Bosa has yet to practice, reports seem to suggest that we are maybe a few weeks away from his return. This is good news for the Chargers as his return will only serve to bolster a defense that is on fire.

Week 9 sees the Chargers traveling north to Seattle to take on the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks have been playing well lately having gone toe-to-toe with the Los Angeles Rams in a game that came down to the wire. This will be a tough foe for the Chargers, but coming off a bye week may give the Chargers the edge – and they will need it. If the Chargers want to remain in the running for the AFC West crown, they will need to win this game as their schedule looks tougher than the Chiefs in the weeks to come with games at Pittsburgh, against Baltimore, and at Kansas City. Game time is 3:05 p.m.
