Bob Sutton as “Casper the Friendly Ghost”

“All I want is a friend”- Casper the Friendly Ghost

“Casper” The Friendly Ghost was a popular cartoon in both children’s literature and later in television shows. The basis of the story is that Casper is friendly, but cannot get friends due to being a ghost. People run at the sight of him and he becomes sad at the fact that people don’t give him a chance.

“Casper” is very relatable to Bob Sutton. Created in 1939, Casper has been around for decades and is disappointed constantly by his lack of success in finding real friends. Sutton, who has been a coach for decades, finds the same kind of struggle. In 2018, he finds himself struggling to find friends in Kansas City.

With one of the lowest rated defenses in the league clipping at a historically bad pace, Sutton only asks for people to still like him. While Sutton does not scare people away with his defensive scheme, it does appear as though he gives opposing team yards and points in exchange for friendship.
