Why the Kansas City Chiefs are the scariest team in the NFL
3. Arrowhead Stadium is a nightmare for opposing teams.
Facing the Kansas City Chiefs this season is scary enough in your own stadium but going on the road to Arrowhead and having to play in front of the loudest fans in the NFL is terrifying. In three home games the Chiefs are outscoring their opponents by an average score of 37.7 to 17. The fact that the Chiefs are only giving up 17 points a game at home (as opposed to 32.8 on the road) should really worry the rest of the AFC.
The Chiefs already hold a one game lead in the AFC despite having completed, by far, their hardest portion of their schedule. If the Chiefs have the pole position for home field in the AFC after their brutal opening schedule the rest of the conference is going to have to hope they stumble down the stretch because otherwise the road to the Super Bowl in the AFC will go through Arrowhead.
Trying to keep pace with Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, and Kareem Hunt in a playoff game is daunting enough but having to do it with the loudest fans in the NFL screaming at your offense every time they touch the ball makes it that much harder. If the defense continues to build on what we saw Sunday night against the Bengals that home field advantage will only get stronger.
I promise you that there isn’t a single team in the AFC that wants to come to Arrowhead and play the team we saw on Sunday night in the playoffs.
So if you’re hurting to come up with a Halloween costume for next week perhaps you should just deck yourself out in Chiefs gear because right now there might not be anything scarier than the Kansas City Chiefs.
