The New Orleans Saints hosted free agent cornerback David Amerson on Wednesday for a visit after losing Patrick Robinson to injury.
It took a few weeks but David Amerson has finally garnered some official interest on the open market. The former Kansas City Chiefs cornerback has taken a couple free agent visits this week, including a visit on Wednesday with the New Orleans Saints, per Ian Rapoport.
The Saints are looking for a new cornerback after losing veteran Patrick Robinson to a broken ankle. Robinson was placed on injured reserve this week which opens up a major need in their secondary for a reliable corner. Amerson will visit on Wednesday but others might be on the way or already involved as well.
Amerson also went to work out for the Green Bay Packers in recent days after the Pack lost Davon House to injury. The team also brought in Bashaud Breeland on a free agent visit at the same time and Green Bay elected to go with Breeland over Amerson. Breeland has also visited the Kansas City Chiefs along with several other teams during the preseason as a free agent corner.
The Oakland Raiders cut Amerson last winter and the Chiefs were quick to seize the moment and sign him to a low-risk deal with incentives. From there, however Amerson failed to live up to expectations, even low ones, with the Chiefs and he was cut free before the regular season began. The Chiefs then signed veteran cornerback Orlando Scandrick to take Amerson’s place.
