The Kansas City Chiefs have a one-game lead in the division. Here’s all the latest from the AFC West heading into Week 4.

Well, Week 3 is in the books and our Kansas City Chiefs, led by Patrick Mahomes, are sitting atop the AFC West.

After the Sunday home opener at Arrowhead, the Chiefs advanced to 3-0 while the rest of the AFC West enjoyed losses. Let’s dive in and look at how the foes of the Chiefs fared this week with our weekly tour of the West.

Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers traveled across town to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday to take on old foes Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib in an L.A. showdown. Many have called the Rams the number one team in the NFL and it isn’t hard to see why. On paper, this team is stacked. Peter Schrager of Good Morning Football even called them one of his two Super Bowl teams.

This was a game of missed opportunities for the Chargers (which seems to be a recurring theme for them). It began with blocked punts and ended with an inability to put the ball in the end zone at the end of the game. Twice the Chargers drove down and walked away with only three points. Add onto that a missed extra point, and the Chargers were not walking out of there with a win. The Rams came out on top 35-23.

It was not all roses for the Rams, however, as they watched two starting cornerbacks lost to injury. Peters and Talib were both injured during this game. Reports are now saying Talib may not come back until late this season and Peters will be out through most of October. For the Chargers, punter Drew Kaser was injured on the blocked punt and wide receiver Travis Benjamin missed his second game.

Next week, the Chargers host the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers are coming off a loss at Arrowhead, but what is most notable is the loss of Jimmy Garropolo. Garropolo tore his ACL and is out for the season. This leaves the 49ers in the hands of C.J. Beathard. This isn’t the first time he will have taken the helm of the 49ers offense, but Beathard is just not Garropolo. I anticipate the Chargers will get a win this weekend and advance to 2-2. Game time is 3:25 p.m.
