Projection and Fit with Chiefs

Trey Adams’ draft stock is all over the board right now. Before the season began he was considered a top 10 prospect by many. Now that news of his injury is coming out Adams could very well slide into the second round. There are also rumors, mentioned in the report above, that Adams may try to return to Washington for a 5th year if he cannot play this season.

Eric Fisher’s contract is good until 2021, but the Chiefs could move on and create some cap space for some young players. If the Chiefs took Adams this April, his first year would likely be a redshirt year. I think that would be an ideal situation for both parties. The Chiefs get a young tackle who can serve as a backup swing tackle, and Adams gets time to heal and adjust to the pro game during practices. Oh, and the Chiefs probably have a heavy interest in keeping their franchise quarterback upright and clean in the pocket so investing in the offensive line is always a good move.
