Weaknesses

Health

This is easily my biggest knock on any player who cannot stay on the field. Great players are useless if they are unable to suit up on game day. Adams tore his ACL last year against the Arizona State Sun Devils, and is currently dealing with a back injury that is rumored to have him missing all of this season. These are both big injuries to recover from, and to try to bounce back after being off the field for nearly 2 years will be a trial for Adams.

Blocking in Space

In a lot of ways, Trey Adams is a prototypical Andy Reid offensive lineman. Big, nimble, and nasty. Unfortunately, Adams does not thrive at blocking in space. He whiffed on at least one screen pass against Cal, and later on straight up tackled a guy downfield on a scramble by QB Jake Browning. How Adams avoided a penalty on that one is a great mystery to me. This is far and away the biggest hole in Adams’ game and has to improve at the next level.
Run Blocking

Adams is not bad at run blocking per se, he just is not exceptional at it. Adams is a very talented young man and has the size and ability to be a really, really good offensive lineman. It appears that Adams struggles to get lower than opposing defenders and really drive them back. I imagine it is pretty difficult to go at 6 foot 8, but it has to be done. This is an area of his game that needs development to be on par with the rest of his abilities.
