For the second consecutive week, Patrick Mahomes has won the AFC Offensive Player of the Week award, going two for two on the year.

While it comes as no surprise to anyone given his tremendous stats, it’s still amazing to see that Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has won his second consecutive AFC Offensive Player of the Week award in only two weeks as the team’s starter.

Mahomes put on an offensive clinic against the Pittsburgh Steelers of all teams in Week 2. Not only did Mahomes best a team that had absolutely owned the Chiefs in recent years, but he did so on the road at Heinz Field on a day that his opposing quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger, was also on fire.

Mahomes put up six touchdowns on the Steelers defense, sending them back to the drawing board time and again to figure out how they could try to stop a young quarterback with so much potential. From Travis Kelce to Demarcus Robinson to Kareem Hunt to Tyreek Hill to Sammy Watkins to Chris Conley, there was simply no way to stop the Chiefs from scoring save for a short drought in the second quarter when the Steelers stole all momentum.

Mahomes final totals on the day: 23 completions on 28 attempts for 326 passing yards, 6 touchdowns and 0 interceptions.

Up next, the Chiefs will get to see their prized possession at quarterback at home for the first time after Mahomes has opened his career as a starter with three straight road games dating back to the final game of the 2017 season when he played at Denver. Arrowhead Stadium should be loud and proud against the 49ers, hoping to see in person what Mahomes has been showing other fan bases for the last two weeks.
