Chiefs Biggest Disappointment of the Week: Offense

It was almost kind of difficult to make this decision. Pretty much the entire offense was on a roll today, but there were some disappointments that plagued the team as well.

Eric Fisher was less than spectacular today. Key penalties, something he struggled with last year, forced the Chiefs into some sticky situations. A lackluster performance by the former first overall draft pick. Hopefully, he will bounce back and the offensive line can protect Mahomes next week in the home opener against the San Francisco 49ers.

RUNNER-UP: Cam Erving

Chiefs Biggest Disappointment of the Week: Defense

This player was featured as the biggest defensive disappointment last week, and although he performed relatively better, he has yet to provide the production we expect .

Justin Houston improved his performance compared to last week, but it was still a lackluster one by one of the team’s highest-paid players. He’s going to need to improve substantially if he wants to show the team he’s still got it. I’m a Houston fan, so I hope he’s able to get in the groove.

  • Total Tackles: 4
  • Solo Tackles: 2
  • Assisted: 2

RUNNER-UP: Dee Ford (2 total tackles)

The Wrap:

An outstanding performance by the Chiefs offense led to a win over the Steelers in Pittsburgh, something the team hasn’t done since 1986. After witnessing the Steelers have their way with the Chiefs, it was nice to see the tables change. Mahomes was electric today, with his 6 passing touchdowns. His performance was a record-breaking one, proving doubters wrong. He has a substantial amount of potential, and he’s going to be taking this team to high places.

An overall unimpressive performance by the Chiefs defense led to a nailbiting end. After forcing two 3-and-outs in the first five minutes of the game, they gave up 452 passing yards. The upside to this, though, is they allowed just 33 rushing yards. They’ll have to get it together for the next 15 weeks, but this team has potential on both sides of the ball. Hopefully, there will be players that improve and make a name for themselves.

Justin Houston and Dee Ford will need to improve their game, but it’s something I definitely see happening as we go on. A surprising name, Orlando Scandrick, looked good today. Granted he looked bad in some areas, but he definitely showed improvement over a horrendous performance last week. Maybe there’s hope for the veteran cornerback after all.
