Kansas City Chiefs draft prospect profile: Michael Jackson, Sr., Miami cornerback
By Thomas Welte
SCHEME FIT WITH CHIEFS
Michael Jackson was a tough evaluation for me. I really like Jackson as a player and I think he will succeed as a professional football player. I am not convinced that he is currently a great fit in Kansas City. He did not line up in press man very often at Miami. The Chiefs would have to invest in developing that aspect of his game. Of course, having Al Harris and Emmitt Thomas on the sidelines to teach a young player is an advantage. Wherever Jackson ends up playing in the pros, that team is getting an instinctive player unafraid of contact, with some legitimate upside once he polishes his technique.
Jackson will likely be picked from the middle of the first round in the draft to the early half of the second round. It is possible that teams may project Jackson as a safety. If he remains at corner, I think the best case scenario is Jackson becomes a slightly thinner (and probably quicker) Byron Maxwell.
