Kansas City Chiefs draft prospect profile: Michael Jackson, Sr., Miami cornerback
By Thomas Welte
STRENGTHS
Tackling
You would think that the first thing you notice about a 6 foot 2 corner is his size, but what stands out most on film for Jackson is his tackling. Not only is Jackson a willing tackler, he is technically sound and brings some serious thunder to his hits. There are no “business decisions” made by Jackson, only sound tackles.
Size
Okay here it is. I am always leery of listing size as a strength simply because the correlation between size and success at corner is shaky at best. That said, Jackson not only has the height and length you want, but at 195 pounds he fills out his frame well. Michael Jackson has ideal size for a press man corner.
Instincts
Jackson is always around the ball and does a good job of flowing with the play. He rarely gets washed out by blockers and fights through the whistle. A lot of corners tend to take a play or two off but Jackson stands out with his effort. He reacts well to potential screens and moves off and on to players well when dropped into a zone.
