Chiefs vs. Chargers: Joey Bosa, Eric Berry on initial injury reports

Initial injury reports are out for both the Chiefs and Chargers and two of the biggest defensive stars involved are limited.

The Kansas City Chiefs and L.A. Chargers have both released their initial injury reports for Week 1. Some familiar names found their way on the list. The injury report for Wednesday is kind of refreshing in the sense that there are only five names present, and it appears that the majority of the injuries for K.C. are not serious.

Four Chiefs that found their way on the injury report were full participants in practice, while one did not practice. The only nonparticipant in practice for the Chiefs was safety Eric Berry. Berry was at the practice field on Wednesday but did not suit up. Linebacker Reggie Ragland has been dealing with a lingering knee injury throughout the offseason, which contributed to his lack of snaps in preseason matchups, but fortunately he was practicing.

According to Chiefs head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder’s statements on Eric Berry on Wednesday, the team is unsure if Berry will play on Sunday. If he doesn’t, recently signed safety Ron Parker will likely start in his place. As the week progresses, injury reports from the team practices will surface. There is still hope that Berry plays.

As far as the Chargers go, only two names were present on the injury report. Joey Bosa is still struggling with a foot injury suffered earlier in the preseason. A limited participant in today’s practice is not necessarily a good sign—at least for the Chargers. Not much else to report on L.A.’s side of things, other than a minor ankle injury suffered by Justin Jones, but he is a full practice participant.
