The Kansas City Chiefs are still without two starters who remain in the league’s concussion protocol: LDT and Steven Nelson.

Two key members of the Kansas City Chiefs roster remain somewhere in the league’s concussion protocol after suffering unfortunate head injuries in recent days and weeks. Both starting right guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif and cornerback Steven Nelson once again missed practice on Tuesday with no real idea of when they might return.

Nelson took a hard blow to the head during the Chiefs most recent preseason game as he attempted to make a play on a leaping Atlanta Falcons receiver. He was immediately taken out of the game when it was clear he’d hit his head, and head coach Andy Reid confirmed after the game that he’d suffered a concussion.

Laurent Duvernay-Tardif has been out for much longer than Nelson as he didn’t even suit up for last Friday’s game against the Falcons. The Chiefs have been cautious to bring him back ever since he was found to have a concussion well over a week ago now. Andrew Wylie has been filling in for him at right guard with the first team, a good sign that Wylie might be close to earning an active roster spot if he’s being considered next man up in LDT’s absence.

As for others on the injury report, Eric Berry continues to sit with a sore heel and has missed multiple practices in the process. He also did not play against the Atlanta Falcons as the team is taking a very relaxed approach here as well in the hopes of not exacerbating his injury.

Finally, Allen Bailey was the other Chiefs player who sat out on Tuesday, The longest tenured defensive lineman has been dealing with a sore knee over the last week and still clearly is not ready. His status for the upcoming preseason game against the Chicago Bears is not yet known.
