The Kansas City Chiefs have lost another back-up offensive lineman due to an injury with news that Dillon Gordon is out for 2018.

The Kansas City Chiefs continue to suffer injuries along the offensive line, and the latest news will keep Dillon Gordon out for the entire season after he suffered a shoulder injury against the Houston Texans during the first preseason game.

Gordon is a former tight end from LSU turned offensive lineman when the Philadelphia Eagles decided to try to convert him shortly after signing him in 2016. A rookie free agent, he managed to make the active roster but was released and placed on the practice squad later that season. After being released again, the Chiefs claimed him and placed him on the squad in December.

The loss of Gordon takes away another player vying for playing time for the Chiefs along the offensive front. The team has already lost Tejan Koroma, a center from Brigham Young, for the season and placed him on injured reserve. Holy Cross product Jimmy Murray also has been dealing with a left knee injury in recent days, and Koroma’s replacement, Ethan Cooper, also suffered an injury against the Texans but came back to play.

For now the Chiefs have enough bodies left in camp due to the sheer size of the 90-man roster—a list that includes tackle Andrew Wylie, a project in Kahlil McKenzie, Canadian import Ryan Hunter, Parker Ehinger, Bryan Witzmann, Jordan Devey, Bentley Spain and, when healthy, Murray and Cooper as wel. That’s still a lot of linemen to go, but camp is long and the preseason is tough. The Chiefs have already lost a few good men. Here’s hoping the injuries are minimal from here on out.
