The Kansas City Chiefs officially kick off their 2018 preseason with a home game at Arrowhead against the Houston Texans on Thursday.

The day is finally here. Real, genuine football will be played tonight under the lights at Arrowhead Stadium, and though the results are meaningless in the end, Thursday’s game against the Houston Texans still signals the beginning of preseason football. That means it will be several months before we have to once again face football-less Sundays.

On Thursday, the Kansas City Chiefs are hosting the Texans to open their season—the first full season with Patrick Mahomes at the helm as starting quarterback. It’s the beginning of a new era for Chiefs Kingdom, even if he’s not slated to play all that much in the team’s first preseason row.

In order to prepare you for the first full night of Chiefs football in quite some time, here’s everything you need to know about the game.

When does the game start?

Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. C.T.

More importantly, when can a person get in?

Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Parking lots open at 2:30 p.m.

How can I watch it?

If you’re local, it’s on KCTV (CBS). If not, NFL Game Pass should have what you need in terms of streaming video and/or audio, whatever you prefer.

How can I listen?

What if I’m headed to the game?

How much will the Chiefs starters play?

Given that it’s the first preseason game, you will likely see the starters play less in this first game than the next two. Only the final game of the preseason features the starters less. This first game is about giving everyone their first official game action.

That said, Andy Reid has already said that each quarterback on the roster will be given a full quarter. It’s hard to see Reid leaving Mahomes in without also leaving his first team offense in as well, so if you’re paying close attention, make sure to do so from the very beginning.

Who else should I keep an eye on?

We’ve got a round-up of 5 key players to watch besides Mahomes here.
