CARSON, CA - SEPTEMBER 24: Kareem Hunt

Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt says he’s learned from a dramatic offseason and that he’s focused on football moving forward.

It’s been an offseason to forget for Kareem Hunt, and the Kansas City Chiefs star running back seems ready to do just that.

Hunt had two separate incidents this offseason that involved the authorities and continue to hang over his head as the league could levy a potential punishment against him. Back in February, Hunt allegedly shoved a woman in an altercation. Four months later, he allegedly punched a man at an Ohio resort. Both situations had inconclusive evidence, a lack of charges and/or conflicting testimony, and both also faded rather quickly from the headlines. That said, it’s clear that Hunt needs to make better decisions with his free time.

It’s good to hear him address that when asked about his offseason. He gave reporters simple and terse comments about what happened.

"“I’ve learned from it and I’m focused on football … Just be in the right place at the right time. I’m going to keep thinking about football and go out there and do my job.”"

While Hunt can now focus full-time on football again and move on from his offseason concerns, the league could still bring about a punishment. Whether that takes the form of a fine or a suspension is unknown, but team owner Clark Hunt also told reporters that the team wasn’t expecting the latter, if anything will happen at all.

"“I really don’t but we tend not to be privy to those decisions that are made by the NFL,” said Hunt"

The lack of any further legal action against Hunt works in his favor, so here’s hoping Clark Hunt is right about the lack of a coming suspension. If so, the Chiefs certainly have some nice back-ups ready to shoulder a short-term load in the backfield, but Hunt is vital to teh Chiefs offense being at full strength.

Hunt led the NFL in rushing last year with 1,327 rushing yards, the sixth rookie in NFL history to do so.
