What we’re excited to see at Kansas City Chiefs training camp
The battle at the No. 2 tight end should be great because veteran Demetrius Harris has great competition against rookie Blake Mack. In Harris’s four years of playing professionally, he has caught a total of 45 passes for 441 yards and three touchdowns in 56 games. While Mack played at Arkansas State University for four years, he caught 82 passes for 1,270 yards and 10 touchdowns in only 23 games.
Being four inches taller than Mack, the 6-foot-7 Harris has a greater catch radius and a longer stride. If Harris uses his size to his advantage, he could easily secure the second spot on the depth chart behind Travis Kelce for another season. However, if Mack can translate his performance from college to the pros, Kelce may find himself working next to the rookie. Training camp will be very showing of how hard Harris and Mack have been working during the offseason.
Camp will also determine where Jace Amaro, Tim Wright and Alex Ellis are in relation to the aforementioned tight ends. Amaro is a big target and tough to tackle. Wright has a long reach and has quick footwork. Ellis has shown hard work and determination for the sport while playing for the University of Tennessee. These all work in Mahomes favor. Nevertheless, training camp will be exciting to see all of the Chiefs tight end’s potential. [Chantel Buchi]
