As Kansas City Chiefs training camp finally gets underway this week here are seven roster battles to keep a close eye on.

Kansas City Chiefs fans everywhere rejoice! Training camp is finally here and the long football drought is over! The Chiefs kick off training camp in Saint Joseph, Missouri this week, and I cannot wait to get there and watch the 2018 Chiefs start to take shape.

Obviously, the main attraction will be Patrick Mahomes and how well he does as the Chiefs new starting quarterback/savior of a long quarterback needy franchise (no pressure, Pat). However, when it comes to training camp, one of the most intriguing things to watch are the spots on the roster where there is true competition for jobs. When I go to camp, I always go with a list of position battles to keep an eye on while I’m there, so it just seemed natural to share my list with you all before training camp kicks off.

I was originally going to try to keep this list to five but I just couldn’t do it. I thought about stretching it out to 10 but the last spot or two started to be a little too big of a reach. So while it isn’t a nice even number, I’ve got seven spots where I think there is going to be a roster battle worth keeping an eye on. Before I start the list I’ll give you my one honorable mention that didn’t quite make the list, that being the back end wide receiver spots.

I see a clear hierarchy in the wide receivers. Tyreek Hill and Sammy Watkins are the starters. Chris Conley and Demarcus Robinson are the other guys that will get plenty of snaps. Jehu Chesson and DeAnthony Thomas are the two most likely guys for the fifth/sixth spots on the roster. Then there are a bunch of undrafted guys trying to beat one of those last two out for one of the last spots. It’s possible that one of them could do that I just think there are seven other spots on this roster that are more intriguing and more wide open than wide receiver, but I certainly understand if some of you are interested in keeping an eye on the position.

I’ll start my official list off with a wide open battle that is probably the least significant of the battles on this list but should be fun to watch regardless.
