With Madden 19 soon to be released, it’s safe to assume the Kansas City Chiefs’ draftees are anxious to see their name on the depth chart.

The defense-heavy 2018 draft class for the Kansas City Chiefs can either go really good, or really bad; I don’t think there’s much in between. I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s anticipating the release of Madden ’19. It’s been a tradition to get Madden for me since Madden ’07, especially being able to play with our beloved Chiefs each year. What better way to prepare for the newest installment of Madden than to predict the rookie ratings for the Chiefs 2018 draft class?

For each draft pick, I’ll include the best and worst rating. The worst rating will pertain to their position, so for instance a linebacker having a throwing power rating of 40 is irrelevant.

Breeland Speaks, LB

When the Chiefs selected Breeland Speaks, I had a mix of emotions. I was surprised, but I was also delighted. I’ve watched my fair share of film on the rookie outside linebacker. So, what might Breeland be rated in Madden ’19?

OVR Prediction: 74

Best Rating: Strength (86)

Worst Rating: Man Coverage (31)

Explanation: Breeland is a heavy-hitting, lean mean wrecking machine. While he should be a decent right outside linebacker for your head-to-head match ups, I wouldn’t expect him to do much good in coverage. For franchise league players, you’ll definitely need to put some XP into him before starting him over Chiefs’ LB Dee Ford, whom I have predicted at 76 OVR.
