Jordan Smallwood, WR, Oklahoma

Smallwood was not a standout player at Oklahoma. In fact, in his four-year career there, he only started two games. This is another player that seems to be a long shot. If Smallwood could not start at the University of Oklahoma, what chance does he really stand of making an NFL roster? While I understand that some players get overlooked and obviously Kansas City saw something in this guy, I have a hard time thinking he will make the roster.

Chance of making the roster: Poor

Again, there are limited resources to view on Smallwood. Because he was only a starter two times in his collegiate career, it seems, on the surface, that he has very little chance of making the 53 man roster.

Josh Crockett, WR, Central Oklahoma

Recently signed, Crockett looks like a project. One can see why the Chiefs wanted to get an extended look at him as he is a huge target at 6’4. Like I mentioned with Byron Pringle, the Chiefs may want to find a consistent possession receiver to bring in on spread sets. I was unable to find anything to watch on Crockett, I can’t imagine that he was not a dominant player at Central Oklahoma. However, that is a lot of the problem. Central Oklahoma is not producing many star players and Crockett seems like a long shot to me.

Chance of making the roster: Poor

Who really knows? Maybe the Chiefs found a gem. I think that it would be a bit too much of a challenge to overcome for Crockett to make the roster at this point. I guess we will have to see how he looks in training camp.

Elijah Marks, WR, Northern Arizona

Another small college guy for Kansas City. In the limited film that I could find, which was Northern Arizona vs. Arizona, Marks looked like a bright spot. He created pretty good separation and looked like a natural talent in his route running. However, being the best part of an offense at Northern Arizona does not always transfer to the NFL. I can definitely see why the Chiefs wanted an extended look at Marks. He looks fast and shows good catching ability. Also interesting to note, he was a successful return man. I like what Elijah Marks has to offer.

Chance of making the roster: Poor

Marks shows flashes, but does not appear to be dominant enough to take a roster spot. I believe that he would be an ideal practice squad player, though. While the Chiefs probably see something that I don’t, I believe his best asset is as a returner and special teams player.
