Keith Reaser, cornerback

Yes, this is a lot of defensive backs listed in a row, but they all are listed for good reason—Reaser included.

Reaser joined the Chiefs last season and sat on the practice squad from September until December when the team finally placed him on the active roster. It’s never a good thing to project a lot from a single game’s performance (ahem, Mahomes), but Reaser did manage to put up 4 tackles, 2 passes defended and 1 sack in his lone official appearance in 2017.

The reason that Reaser is being overlooked (when he shouldn’t) comes down to a combination of two things. First of all, Brett Veach mentioned Reaser and Will Redmond by name when asked about the state of the team’s depth at cornerback, saying he wasn’t concerned because of the presence of both players in particular. Second, Veach has backed up his vocal support with a surprising lack of roster moves to inspire competition down the depth chart.

Yes there are rookies, both drafted (Tremon Smith) and undrafted (Arrion Springs), but Reaser has an excellent chance of making the roster.
