Defensive lineman Roy Miller, who suited up for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2017, will be suspended for the first six weeks of the 2018 season.

The NFL announced that former Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Roy Miller would be suspended for the first six games of the 2018 regular season on Friday, per ESPN’s NFL analyst Field Yates.

Miller played last season for the Chiefs in a limited role that included a couple different stints on the roster as the Chiefs made various changes throughout the preseason and regular season. By the end, Miller played in 7 games and finished with 6 tackles and 1 pass defended.

The details of Miller’s suspension were not released at the time, but Chiefs fans will remember that Miller was arrested for battery in November. While Miller has been a solid player over time in the league, he’s likely going to have a difficult time finding work in 2018. Veteran free agents often have to wait until training camp as it is, but Miller, who is now 30, will have a tougher time.

Miller only played in 7 games last year and 6 games the year before that with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Playing only 13 games in two seasons and then being forced to miss more than a third to open 2018 is likely going to keep Miller unemployed unless he remains in exemplary shape and the right fit opens via injury during midseason—all of which is still a possibility.

Miller has played 119 games in his NFL career, including 84 total starts for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Jacksonville Jaguars. He has 252 career tackles and 8 sacks in his career. Beyond the stats, Miller has been a very solid run defender for a near-decade.
