Quarterback

As Chiefs fans, we have seen the quarterback change plenty of times. Maybe not as often as some teams, but before last year, the Chiefs had not drafted a guy at QB in the first round of the draft in years. The position has seen plenty of poor performances through the years and there have been some painful memories of being the team that was “just a quarterback away” from being a good team. Overall, in the last decade, the Chiefs have not had the best of luck until recently.

The Worst: Tyler Palko

I remember this as a very strange time. The front office was reportedly having a feud and was dysfunctional in almost every aspect of the football team. Todd Haley decided to make Tyler Palko his starter after Matt Cassel went down with an injury, and it appeared that Haley had gone rogue. He wore that terrible hat and grew out a nasty beard  started Palko over better options. Things were strange.

I can remember watching games and expecting to only score by field goals, defensive plays, or miracles. One of those miracles happened on a Hail Mary pass before halftime. Palko threw a touchdown pass to Dexter McCluster. Like I said, things were strange.

After four starts, Tyler Palko finished with 831 yards passing, 2 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions. It wasn’t really his fault. He should have never been placed in that situation, but Palko tops my list of worst Chiefs quarterbacks of the past decade.

Honorable mention: Brodie Croyle, Tyler Thigpen, Brady Quinn, and Matt Cassel.
