The Kansas City Chiefs will return to Missouri Western State University for their eighth straight training camp after a new agreement was reached.
The campus of Missouri Western State University has served as the preseason home for the Kansas City Chiefs ever since the summer of 2010 and it will stay that way for an eighth straight year.
According to the St. Joseph News-Press, the school’s governing board voted to approve an agreement with the Chiefs that will bring them back for another summer with an option for 2019 as well. The news on Tuesday was expected, however, as a deal had already been unofficially reached back in January.
St. Joseph has been a nice home for the Chiefs training camp for the last several years, both for the players and fans. The Chiefs coaching staff and players always have nice things to say about the university setting, which provides a team a home away from home—a real chance to connect and get distance from any distractions as they prepare for the season.
At the same time, St. Joseph is quite accessible for local fans to go and see their team prepare for the upcoming season, offering up-close-and-personal opportunities for fans to see their favorite players. Family fun days, autograph sessions and more are all part of the preseason experience that makes training camp so much fun for all parties involved.

While some franchises have slowly brought training camp back to the team’s own facilities in metro areas, the Chiefs are one of several teams that still create a distinct experience for both fans and players with their preseason destination. This agreement means that fans can expect another summer of memories with the Chiefs while remaining hopeful for more to come in 2019 and beyond.
