All of the Chiefs Kingdom is excited for Patrick Mahomes first year as the starting quarterback, but what are realistic expectations for him in 2018?

Patrick Mahomes mania is sweeping over the Chiefs Kingdom. The excitement around the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback hasn’t been this high in decades, possibly ever. Fans everywhere can’t wait to see what Mahomes will do in his first season as the starter in KC. The last time we saw anything resembling this level excitement was probably when Joe Montana came to town in 1993. That was 25 years ago. On one hand, its so much fun to finally be the team with the hot young quarterback that everyone is excited about. On the other hand, are Chiefs fans building up Mahomes so much that our expectations are going to be more than he can live up to?

What are realistic expectations?

What would most Chiefs fans consider a successful first season as the full time starter?

3,000 yards? 4,000 yards?

23 touchdowns and 15 interceptions?

30 touchdowns and 10 interceptions?

60% completions? 65% completions?
