The Kansas City Chiefs kept their fourth round pick from participating during parts of rookie minicamp but Andy Reid is not worried at all about his health.

During the Kansas City Chiefs recent rookie minicamp, the team decided to hold out Armani Watts from participation due to an undisclosed injury. It turns out that there’s actually nothing to worry about and that the Chiefs were just being cautious in their approach.

Andy Reid, the team’s head coach, spoke to reporters on Monday about the minicamp and how things went, and he answered questions about Watt’s injury right out of the gate.

"“We have one injury, which is a minor one. Watts just got bumped on his shoulder. It’s nothing serious. We held him out and he’ll be fine. It’s a bruise. That’s what it was. Nothing other than that.”"

Watts, a safety out of Texas A&M, was the Chiefs fourth round selection in the recent 2018 NFL Draft. Watts could earn significant playing time in the secondary given the state of the secondary, especially if he’s able to learn the playbook and schemes this spring and summer heading into training camp.

The battle to replace the departed Ron Parker, who was released this summer after five years with the Chiefs, should come down to Watts and Eric Murray. Murray is himself a former fourth round pick from the University of Minnesota.
