The Oakland Raiders are getting a great person and leader in Derrick Johnson, says Andy Reid, who had nothing but great things to say about the Chiefs LB.
Derrick Johnson’s recent signing with the Oakland Raiders has brought a lot of negative responses out from Kansas City Chiefs fans as they wrestle with seeing one of their favorite players in the colors of their division rival. However, Andy Reid has nothing good to say about not only Johnson but the opportunity Oakland presented to him when asked by reporters.
The Chiefs told Johnson earlier this offseason that they were going to move on and allow the longtime linebacker to explore free agency. Johnson sat for several weeks waiting on a chance before the Oakland Raiders came calling after the 2018 NFL Draft. After a visit, the Raiders decided to sign him to a one-year contract.
When asked what he thought of DJ’s signing with Oakland, Reid had plenty of praise for the Raiders’ newest addition and called it a “great” opportunity.
"“I think it’s great that Derrick has a chance. Derrick is one of my favorite players that I’ve ever coached since I’ve been coaching. Every day he came out like he was 20 and I’ve said that before. The Raiders are getting a great person, a phenomenal person and leader, and all those things. I mean just tremendous. I wish him the best. I texted him that I wish him the best except for about two games, other than that I’m good.”"

Last year he had 77 tackles for the Chiefs.
