3 free agents who could help the Kansas City Chiefs secondary

Tre Boston, Safety
The fact that there are still quality safeties on the market is a mystery to a lot of people. WIth Tre Boston, Eric Reid, and Kenny Vacarro all still being free agents after the draft. Even after Tyrann Mathieu signed his one year $7 million dollar deal with the Houston Texans and set the market. No one seems very interested in spending money on safeties this season.
If the Chiefs were to target one though I would prefer it to be Boston. Even though the Chiefs recently drafted Armani Watts there is still room for a player of Boston’s caliber. At only 25 the Chiefs could lock up the safety position for a long time if they decided to sign him to a long-term deal. Last season Boston racked up five interceptions for the Los Angeles Chargers. With the Chiefs recent trade of Marcus Peters they will be looking for some else to help generate turn overs.
I know the Chiefs recently signed Robert Golden, but he was signed more for his special teams play than his play at safety. Signing a veteran of Bostons caliber would be insurance for the Chiefs. There is no guarantee that Eric Berry will come back 100% at the beginning of this season. Even if Berry does come back at fully healthy he has an extensive injury history. having a player like Boston would help ensure that the drop off isn’t as big as it was last year. This is another signing that would be a no brainier if the Chiefs can get it done. with how soft the market has been for safety free agents there is no reason to believe that Brett Veach could not pull it off if he really wants to.
