After the 2018 NFL Draft, a new round of rookie talent will push some veterans out of some playing time. That makes them potential trade targets for the Chiefs.

We have seen that Brett Veach likes to address the Kansas City Chiefs roster needs aggressively through trades and free agency. The 2018 NFL draft is in the books, but there are still some positions at which the Chiefs may want some more security.

I have looked at five players who could be available through trade or free agency. I looked for two things: players who had a rookie (or second year) player poised to take their spot, and teams that have changed their scheme dramatically. The guys on this list fit that criteria and fit areas of need for the Chiefs.

Shane Ray, EDGE, Broncos

Shane Ray is the name that many Chiefs fans would want to see in red and gold, and I would even bet that Ray himself wants that (given that he’s a K.C. native with a giant Chiefs tattoo on his back). The Broncos have not exactly shown a commitment to Ray, having yet to pick up his fifth year option .

The addition of rookie pass rusher Bradley Chubb at No. 5 overall in the draft means that playing time for Ray might be sparse. That said, I cannot see the Broncos trading Ray to a divisional rival and I’m sure there will be other teams willing to trade something for the former first round pick.
