The 2018 NFL Draft is almost here and there are several positions that the Kansas City Chiefs need. Here are some offensive line prospects to watch out for.

Ladies and gentlemen, when this post goes live we will be just 10 DAYS away from the start of the 2018 NFL Draft. I don’t know if every Kansas City Chiefs fan loves the draft as much as I do, but I for one am like a little kid counting down the days until Christmas.

The NFL draft is actually a lot like Christmas for NFL teams. Everybody gets a bunch of new toys to play with once the season starts. We don’t get the privilege of seeing Chiefs GM Brett Veach’s Christmas list for the 2018 draft, but if you’re like me you’ve already put one together for yourself.

For me, part of the fun is scouting out the players that I like and think would fit well on my favorite team. I know not everyone has the time (or obsession) to do this on their own, so I’ve put together a series of posts for Chiefs fans that profile some of my favorite prospects at positions of need for K.C. This week its time to look at some offensive linemen.

Before we get started on the linemen, here are the links to the previous installments of this series in case you’d like to take a look at them.

I need to be clear about a few things before we start looking at actual prospects. First off, this is not a post about the “best” offensive line prospects in the NFL draft. Yes, Quenton Nelson is a monster, but he’s not making it out of the top ten picks, let alone into the late second round where the Chiefs will select for the first time in this draft (if they stay put). This is a list of guys that I think the Chiefs could and should target without having to trade up.

Second, I am of the opinion that the Chiefs will not and should not draft offensive line with their first pick in this draft. Now, if there is a guy that they love and will start from day one at left guard I will be thrilled if they take him in the second round. However, I just find that unlikely given their much greater needs on defense. Therefore, guys that could be an option in the second round like Braden Smith and Justin Corbett aren’t on this list either. If you are big on the idea of K.C. taking a new left guard with their first pick, those are probably your guys, but this post is going to focus on guys that the Chiefs could target in the third round and later.

Finally, while I would be fine with the Chiefs taking a developmental tackle for depth purposes in the later rounds I feel like the interior line is where they should focus. So all of the prospects on this list can play guard or center. Some of them also have experience playing tackle as well, but all can (or should) play on the interior.

Okay, let’s start with the guy I really want the Chiefs to draft.
