Former Kansas City Chiefs returner Knile Davis is back at his alma mater hoping to re-enter the NFL after sitting out the 2017 season.

Knile Davis is suiting up with other NFL hopefuls at the University of Arkansas pro day on Monday. The only difference between him and a dozen or more others is that he comes with four years of professional experience.

Davis spent his first few years in the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs as a running back and returner. In 2016, he was traded by general manager John Dorsey to the Green Bay Packers for a conditional draft choice, but he only lasted two games with the Packers. From there, he eventually landed a second stint in K.C. but it was not meant to last.

Last March, Knile Davis found a shallow pool of interest after hitting proper free agency for the first time, drawing a one-year contract worth not even $800K with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was cut just before the regular season began as he could not secure a post on the team’s active roster.

After sitting out the entire 2017 regular season, Davis is back at his alma mater in hopes of reminding teams that he’s still readily available as an option.

Davis owns a career rushing average of 3.2 yards/carry, gaining 805 career yards rushing on 200 carries. He also caught 34 passes in his NFL career for 271 receiving yards. Where Davis really shines, however, is in the return game, where he’s scored two touchdowns on kick returns in his career, including one for 99 yards and another for 108.

Davis will turn 27-years-old during the 2018 regular season. He was the Chiefs third round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.
