Holton Hill – Texas – 6’3″ – 200 pounds

Holton Hill of Texas is a prospect I debated including on this wish list. If you just go off of what you see on tape, he is without question one of the top corners that the Chiefs should target in this draft class. He has great size and length and ran an impressive 4.49 40-yard dash time to go along with it. His tape is full of good man-to-man coverage, and he is aggressive in both coverage and run support. He probably belongs in the top 50 prospects from a talent perspective. The problem is that he was suspended for the end of the season for “violating team rules”.

Now, I don’t know what “violating team rules” means in this situation. Did he get into it with his coaches like Marcus Peters? Did he miss practices, meetings, or curfews? Did he test positive for weed or performance enhancers? Did they find out he was taking money from boosters? I have no idea. I do think that if the Chiefs are at all concerned that its a major character red flag they will probably stay far away from Hill after having just had to cut ties with a super talented corner in Marcus Peters because of similar issues. However, if its something that they feel isn’t a big issue and won’t carry over to his NFL career then Hill could be a steal.

After all, while the Chiefs were ultimately burned by the Peters pick they also benefited huge from a “character” related slide with Justin Houston. So ultimately I decided to keep him on my wish list because I want the player that I see on tape to be a Chief. If you want to see Hill in action you can check out the tweet thread attached to the clip below.
