Marcus Peters: “Alex Smith doesn’t get enough respect”
By Matt Conner
Marcus Peters recently appeared on NFL Network to discuss the recent trade to the L.A. Rams and his thoughts on the Chiefs other big offseason trade.
Marcus Peters recently appeared on the NFL Network on Monday to sit down with former NFL fullback Michael Robinson to discuss, for the first time in public, the trade that recently sent him to the Los Angeles Rams.
The entire affair is a worthy listen, but Peters made it clear that while he realizes the league is a business, he will miss his teammates with the Kansas City Chiefs, naming Justin Houston, Eric Berry and even head coach Andy Reid by name.
At the very end of the interview, Robinson asks Peters, “Did you agree with them moving Alex?” Peters responds with a firm negative and then explains why, putting the playoff loss squarely on the shoulders of the Chiefs defense.
"“No, man. Alex doesn’t get enough respect. They need to start putting some respect on that man’s name, because I’ve seen that man get thrown under the bus too many times. He took it as a man and he never complained about it. He doesn’t turn over the ball and he knows how to win. That was our fault for messing up the playoffs on him. That was our fault.”"
It’s an interesting take from Peters who now has no allegiance to anyone on the Chiefs, who can say whatever he wants about anyone without fear of any penalty at all. And instead of bashing his former coach, saying anything negative about the organization in any way, Peters is able to point out everything positive, places the negative under the term “business” and then throws the other player traded out of Kansas City some credit as a much better quarterback than he’s usually given credit for being.
Do you agree with Marcus? Do you think Alex doesn’t get enough respect? Are you done talking about it? Hit us up in the comments with your thoughts.
