Bashaud Breeland – Washington Redskins

The Washington Redskins had arguable the best trio of cornerbacks in the NFL last season with Josh Norman, Bashaud Breeland and new Chief Kendall Fuller. There is a fair chance that the Redskins may be without two of those corners next season as Breeland is set to hit free agency next month. There is certainly a chance that Washington will push to re-sign him now that Fuller was dealt to K.C., but if they don’t the Chiefs would be smart to pursue him.

Like Kyle Fuller, Breeland is a proven NFL starter and is only 26-years-old. The similarities don’t stop there. Breeland was also amongst the league leaders in pass deflections last season with 19 and if you look closely at the tweet from Pro Football Focus that listed Kyle Fuller as one of the best in the NFL at defending deep passes you’ll see Breeland’s name as well.

He also showed up on this list of Pro Football Focus’ top playmakers at cornerback. They figured this by adding a player’s pass deflections and interceptions together and dividing them by how many times they were targeted in coverage.

Breeland isn’t quite on Kyle Fuller’s level, but he’s a solid young cornerback that would help solidify the Chiefs secondary. He’s not the corner that Marcus Peters was, but frankly nobody is. The Chiefs aren’t replacing Peters with someone else equally dynamic. Breeland won’t be cheap but he won’t break the bank like Johnson, Butler, and possibly Fuller. I think he would be an excellent signing for Brett Veach and the Chiefs.

Let’s look at one more option.
