The Kansas City Chiefs have earned 1 compensatory draft pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, a sixth round choice from letting Nick Foles leave.

The National Football League announced the compensatory draft picks for the upcoming 2018 NFL Draft, and the Kansas City Chiefs will be receiving one extra pick in the process, at the tail end of the sixth round.

The Chiefs earned a pick for letting Nick Foles leave as a free agent to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles. Compensatory picks are awarded based on the quality of free agents a team loses from the previous season. Of course, Foles’s performance in the playoffs and Super Bowl had no bearing or else the pick would be much, much higher for the Chiefs.

Here’s a look at all of the picks awarded:

With the addition of the sixth round compensatory choice, the Chiefs now have two picks in the sixth round to go with their fourth round pick, giving them three on day three now. Of course, the recently announced Marcus Peters trade will also give them more draft assets when the final details come through, but for now the Chiefs know they have six total picks, including a second round pick, two third round picks and now these three Day 3 choices.

Four teams were awarded four compensatory picks apiece, which is also what the Chiefs earned in last year’s draft. The Oakland Raiders, Green Bay Packers, Cincinnati Bengals and Dallas Cowboys will all enjoy an extra 4 selections due to free agency losses. The Cardinals, Texans, Broncos and Bengals earned the biggest prizes of all—having their comp picks available to them at the tail end of Day 2.
