The Kansas City Chiefs have not made a move to retain Albert Wilson. Could they look to sign someone via free agency?

The Kansas City Chiefs have a decision to make with wide receiver Albert Wilson after watching him enjoy his best season in his fifth year. The former undrafted free agent hauled in 42 receptions for 554 yards and 3 touchdowns in 13 games. Those aren’t exceptional stats but considering being alongside two 1,000 yard receivers in wide receiver Tyreek Hill and tight end Travis Kelce and a 1,000-yard rusher in Kareem Hunt, they are solid numbers.

If Wilson were to return to Kansas City in 2018, it would be in the slot position as the third receiver. He could be a good player to retain with new quarterback Patrick Mahomes stepping into the starter role. It could also be beneficial to have experienced receivers in place for his first full season.

Mahomes and Wilson seemed to have developed some chemistry in the final game of the season in Denver, as Mahomes targeted Wilson 11 times. The two connected on 10 of those passes resulting in 147 yards, Wilson’s career high in receptions and yards in a single game. It makes sense to bring him back on a small contract, but if they decide to move on from the young receiver, here are some possibilities to take over the slot position through free agency that wouldn’t break the bank.
