Derrick Johnson’s most memorable moments with the Kansas City Chiefs
Arrowhead gets loud
The 2013 season was a special one for the Kansas City Chiefs organization and their fans. Coming off a 2-14 season, the Chiefs formed the best turnaround in NFL history, starting the season 9-0. During the 9-0 start, Arrowhead Stadium broke the Guinness World Record for the loudest crowd noise in Week 6 against the Oakland Raiders.
The record-setting moment came with 48 seconds remaining in the game. With Terrelle Pryor looking to run up the middle, Johnson quickly closed in and sacked him behind the line of scrimmage for a one-yard loss.
According to the representative from the Guinness World Record who attended the game, that exact same play was when Chiefs fans broke the sound record at 137.5 decibels. The Seattle Seahawks regained the record later that year, only for the Chiefs to get it back in 2014.
The Chiefs defeated the Raiders 24-7. The win snapped a six-game home losing streak to the Raiders, beating them at Arrowhead for the first time since 2006. The Chiefs finished the season 11-5 with a wild-card berth, the team’s first postseason appearance since 2010.
