We recently polled the staff writers of Arrowhead Addict for their opinions on tonight’s big game and a surprising number believe in Nick Foles and Doug Pederson.

Tonight the Philadelphia Eagles become the latest team to try to supplant the New England Patriots as Super Bowl champions. It’s an annual tradition for one side and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for another.

Despite their underdog status, the Eagles are getting plenty of respect, at least from our staff writers here at Arrowhead Addict. We polled them before tonight’s big game and it looks like more of them believe in Nick Foles than Tom Brady.

Read on for our predictions and let us know who you have tonight:

Eagles 35 Patriots 28
Attero Dominatus: Latin for “destroying a corrupt regime.” The Patriots don’t have a clean track record and have had their time on top. The Eagles are the up and coming underdog. It’s time for a new champion to shine. [Lucas Hampton]

Eagles 31, Patriots 28
Half of me believes this is a New England blowout, but the other half believes even with Nick Foles at quarterback, the Eagles are the toughest matchup for the Patriots of the NFC contenders. So in the interest of seeing all the hot takes that would result, I’ll take the eagles with a backup quarterback over Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. [Jacob Harris]

Eagles 37, Patriots 28
Eagles have all the pieces to win against the Patriots. The Patriots have the smarts and experience to beat the Eagles. The Eagles win thanks to their deep rotation along the defensive line and a strong run game that put too much pressure on Tom Brady and the Patriots defense respectively. All Nick Foles needs to do is to not make too many mistakes. Bill Belichick will be doing everything he can to make life difficult for him. [David Thomas]

Eagles 30, Patriots 21
While the Patriots have the experience, they are not as good as their record suggests. Their defense has shown holes and Philadelphia has just too many weapons. This is the Eagles’ year. [Ellen Tolsma]

Patriots 31, Eagles 21
The Eagles have been underdogs the entire postseason. It is hard to go against them again. Their defensive front seven has helped them get to this point. But it is also hard to go against a Patriots team that has been here many times. Expect Brady to get his sixth. [Farzin Vousoughian]

Eagles 27, Patriots 24
Offense wins games and defense wins championships right? Philly has the front 7, and back 4 to give Tom Brady fits. Foles just needs to not turn the ball over. With Torrey Smith and Alshon Jeffery on the outside, plus Zach Ertz and Jay Ajayi, the Eagles will score points and the defense keeps Tom Brady from winning the game late in the 4th. [Mason Whitlock]

Patriots 45, Eagles 38
The Patriots will beat that Eagles in a 45-38 shootout game. Nick Foles will have a better game than expected and put pressure on Tom Brady to be at his best. Unfortunately for the Eagles Brady is at his best when the spotlight shines brightest. Brady will add another ring and Super Bowl MVP award to his trophy case. [Britt Zank]

Patriots 30, Eagles 3
Forget what you saw two weeks ago. Remember, instead, what you would have said about this match-up before the playoffs began. Nick Foles vs. Tom Brady? Doug Pederson vs. Bill Belichick? The same tone of voice you would have used then is still applicable now despite some nice coaching and passing from the unlikely suspects. Sorry but this turf belongs to the Patriots and they’ve proven that time and time again. This is a laugher of a match-up. [Matt Conner]
