We had a chance to sit down with former Raiders executive Amy Trask and talk about her time in the NFL and her time rooting against the Chiefs.

Having an opportunity to sit down with CBS Sports Network’s Amy Trask was extremely informative. Between the ins and outs of the salary cap and her past experiences working with Al Davis and Lamar Hunt as an executive with the Oakland Raiders, there is a lot to digest.

Talking about the Chiefs and Raiders past also lead to talking about the Raiders new coach in Jon Gruden. There was a lot of interest there for a long time to bring Gruden back to Oakland. It sounds like it’s a move that Mark Davis has wanted to make for several years and he was finally able to pull it off. There is also a lot of compensation tied to Gruden returning to the sidelines so the Raiders are making a big gamble.

The insight into how teams function both on a cap level and in general is what makes the interview with Trask the most fun. We know about the salary cap that each team has to work with. However,  the other moves they have to pay attention to get overlooked. Teams also have to be cognizant of a number that most never take into consideration. Cash is always king and it is imperative for running an organization as well.
