The Kansas City Chiefs got some more good news this week with word that star safety Eric Berry “looks fantastic” in his rehab work.

You know it’s a busy week when good news related to Eric Berry’s health is relegated to Page 2, in a manner of speaking, but that’s what an Alex Smith trade will do. That said, an update on Eric Berry is still news in which we’re very interested, and Chiefs Kingdom will be thrilled to hear that the team’s star safety “looks fantastic” in his rehabilitation.

Berry was lost for the entire season in Week 1, late in a season-opening win over the New England Patriots. Berry was diagnosed with a torn Achilles which meant he’d miss the rest of the year, but fortunately things are apparently coming along just fine.

Per NFL analyst Ian Rapoport:

Berry has come back from serious injury before, including a diagnosis of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma back in 2014. His return to the NFL after receiving the cancer diagnosis is one of the most inspirational stories in team history. Unfortunately Berry can’t seem to stay healthy for multiple seasons in a row.

Berry is a five-time Pro Bowler and three-time All Pro who is perhaps the single best player at his position when healthy. In 2016, Berry tied a career-high in interceptions with 4 and returned two of them for touchdowns. He finished the season with 77 total tackles, 1 forced fumble and 9 passes defended.
