Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Chris Jones promises a deep playoff run for the team in the 2018 season.

Chris Jones is no stranger to putting himself out there.

His personality makes him a fan favorite ever since he first landed with the Kansas City Chiefs in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft. This time, however, he’s promising something that might be hard for some Chiefs fans to believe. He’s promised Chiefs Kingdom some future playoff success.

Just weeks after yet another brutal playoff meltdown for the Chiefs, one which has led some to wonder if the team is actually cursed, Jones made it clear he not only doesn’t believe in such ghosts but wants to let the NFL know the Chiefs will be a team to contend with in 2018.

The response to Jones’ confident declaration was met with predictably mixed results. After all, the Chiefs are fresh off of allowing the Tennessee Titans, a team with very limited offensive options and one that also fired their head coach even after their playoff win over K.C., to come back from an 18-point deficit.

Andy Reid has a pitiful record of 1-4 in the playoffs since arriving in Kansas City. What’s amazing is that he had a winning playoff record with the Philadelphia Eagles at 10-9, making his current .200 postseason win percentage that much more laughable.

Jones, however, believes that such performances in the past have no bearing on the present, and in that respect, he’s totally right. The Chiefs have plenty of young talent for a team that’s already been in win-mode for the last half-decade, and they haven’t even unleashed their first round quarterback yet.

Here’s hoping that the doubters are wrong and that Jones can help carry the load to postseason glory. If so, we’ll be talking about this tweet a year from now and buying Jones jerseys by the truckload.
