As we start to dig into the Kansas City Chiefs offseason a great place to start is with the defense.

In this episode of the Blitz Package podcast, we begin our offseason with an overview of the Kansas Citiy Chiefs defense, who is going and who is staying.

Early into this Chiefs offseason it appears we have found the scapegoat for what was a disappointing season and his name is Bob Sutton. There is no shortage of opinions on social media in regards to Sutton. Some are mad he’s still the teams defensive coordinator while others believe he’s done a solid job with what he’s had to work with.

Like most things on social media both sides have valid arguments but who has the strongest arguments?

There are going to be a lot of changes on the defensive side of the ball. There are aging veterans who appear to be at the end of their road and some tough decisions the team will need to make in free agency. Before we can really start to look at what new faces we want to see in KC we need to figure out what to do with the old faces.

Derrick Johnson and Tamba Hali are future Chiefs Hall of Famers about whom the team faces tough choices. There are others like Ron Parker, Daniel Sorenson and Allen Bailey who have been solid contributors the last few years but appear like guys the team could walk away from. Who of these guys are the Chiefs looking to keep and who are they looking to walk away from?

We get into these questions as well as have a brief discussion of the playoff games from this past weekend and what it says about the Chiefs.
