We talk about the Chiefs hiring of Eric Bieniemy as the Offensive Coordinator and who it could benefit the most.

The Kansas City Chiefs have hired running backs coach

Eric Bieniemy as their offensive coordinator

moving forward. This is a good hire for Kansas City. They keep the continuity of someone already in the system and they bring a guy with a lot of fire. There will not be any passivity coming from the OC in Kansas City with Bieniemy being that guy.

More importantly is the check that this should help give Reid as a play caller. If he calls plays, Eric will be in his ear about running the ball more. If he allows Bieniemy to call plays, he has the ability to help groom him. This should also be a good thing for second-year quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ development as he will have a coach with a different perspective at offensive coordinator. Eric is going to want to have a strong running game which will help Mahomes even more.

This is the point in the season where teams are starting to make moves for their rosters next season. The Chiefs brought back all of their practice squad guys on reserve contracts. That includes Dieter the only player to be on the practice squad all season. The Chiefs have also brought in former 2014 second round pick Jace Amaro. This move is likely to not net anything long term, but Amaro was a second round pick for a reason. Maybe Reid or Veach see something they like. The Chiefs could obviously use more help at the tight end position behind Travis Kelce. It’s a no-risk signing with the small possibility of a return down the road.
