We talked with Paige Dimakos from The Sports Paige and Fan Rag Sports to get her thoughts on the Chiefs and the AFC West.

While the game may not hold any significance for the

Kansas City Chiefs

team headed to Denver this week, there are players that will care beyond just wanting a win. Obviously

Patrick Mahomes will make his first start

in a Chiefs uniform and that’s big. There will be plenty of fans watching to see his every move and throw. Mahomes is going to be closely watched this weekend whether or not that’s a good or bad thing.

Mitchell Schwartz currently has a streak of not missing snaps that he would like to continue. Andy Reid and Coach Nagy have played coy with whether or not they will let him play this weekend. Offensive lineman really pride themselves with their availability so this is a pride thing. Schwartz is one of three Chiefs that haven’t missed an offensive snap this season. The other two are Alex Smith who’s streak will end this weekend, and Eric Fisher.

There are plenty of young players that will get an opportunity to showcase their abilities or lack there of. Offensively I would expect we will see much more of De’Anthony Thomas and Jehu Chesson as well as Orson Charles and Akeem Hunt. Defensively, I would bet that we will see more time for Phillip Gaines, Kenneth Acker and Leon McQuay in the secondary. It’s hard to guess who the Chiefs will keep active on both lines. The Chiefs are currently 3 point underdogs for this game which is funny considering they are already known to be playing their backups this week.
