Patrick Mahomes

There’s a reason the list begins here. The excitement felt within Chiefs Kingdom was palpable when Roger Goodell read about the Chiefs trade up from the podium during the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. A team only makes a move like that for one reason, and a few seconds later, when Patrick Mahomes name was announced, Chiefs fans had what they’ve wanted for years (maybe even decades).

The only first round investment at quarterback in the last 30 years has serious expectations on his shoulders, but he wears the burden with a grin all the same. He could be the most exciting prospect in Chiefs history and we’ve all been forced to wait a full season to even catch a glimpse.

What Chiefs Kingdom would love to see is this heralded arm toss up a few passes for Tyreek Hill, DeMarcus Robinson and other speedy targets to see what the future of the offense might hold. If the team’s offense found a higher ceiling in 2017, it’s set to reach even higher—if Mahomes is smart enough to soak in Andy Reid’s playbook and savvy enough to shine in the spotlight.

This coming Sunday could give us a good look and bring the excitement to a fever pitch.
