Veteran tight end Anthony Fasano returns to face his former teammates as the Miami Dolphins visit the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

When the Miami Dolphins offense takes the field on Sunday for the first time, a new roster development will put a familiar face on the grass at Arrowhead Stadium for Jay Cutler to throw at. Given the recent move by the Dolphins to put starting tight end Julius Thomas on injured reserve, Anthony Fasano now becomes the team’s starter at the position.

Kansas City Chiefs fan will remember Fasano as a veteran tight end brought in by general manager John Dorsey during his first two years to stabilize the position along with the newly drafted Travis Kelce. Unfortunately for the Chiefs, Kelce was injured during his entire rookie season, which meant Fasano was splitting starters reps with blocker Sean McGrath that year.

Fasano played for only two seasons in Kansas City and started 22 games during that stretch. He was a nice red zone target with 7 total touchdowns for the Chiefs in that time despite a total of only 48 total catches for 426 receiving yards in his brief K.C. career. The Chiefs released him in February, 2015 after two full seasons with the club.

Fasano has also enjoyed a nice career after being selected in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys, for whom he played only 2 seasons. Fasano has always played for the Dolphins for six seasons now and the Tennessee Titans for two more years. In his 12 year NFL career, Fasano has a total of 36 touchdowns.
